two-close-between

One of the key challenges of this new build was fitting a large and complex brief into a compact site. The design called for two separate, fully private homes, each with its own entrance and garage. To meet this requirement, the structure was designed so that, with the removal of just one wall, the two homes can seamlessly transform into a single, expansive residence. This flexibility allows for the creation of additional bedrooms and unique spaces, maximizing functionality within the tight site.

Llandudno is celebrated for its iconic beach, where massive granite boulders rest atop and against one another, inviting exploration beneath and around their forms, through narrow crevasses and hidden caves. This interaction with the natural environment is thoughtfully echoed in the design of the house, creating a progressive journey that mirrors the surrounding landscape. A striking example is the large, cantilevered off-shutter wall on the façade, reminiscent of a granite boulder poised above the main entrance. This design element evokes the sensation of traversing a crevasse, guiding one through the space and revealing breathtaking views of the ocean beyond.
