As cities shrink with overpopulation, the ever-growing demand for food in urban environments increase and the harmful effects of mass production continue to destroy the natural environment, the need for alternative and localised methods of urban agriculture are becoming more of a significant reality.

Even within small communities on the fringe of a city, the notion of implementing small scale vertical farms is becoming a much-needed vision for the future.  These could be seen as small scale vertical urban greenhouses.
